Race

Successes in elite sport are proof of class. Multiple track discipline champion Theo Bos, Leontien Zijlaard–van Moorsel and team Skil-Shimano are continuing the decade-long tradition of Koga’s cycling successes… through to and including the prospect of Olympic medals in Beijing! Their performance and experience have provided direct and invaluable input in developing our latest models. For a race collection that quite rightly makes the difference in the fine detail and matches the most extreme rider requirements. The Koga FullPro segment is directly related to Koga’s elite sporting endeavours. Bicycles that have to prove themselves under gruelling real-life conditions, in the hands of professionals … and come through the ordeal shining with glory. Using frame technology that combines light weight with appropriate frame strength and using components that are selected to provide maximum support to quality and looks. The most suitable and reliable choice for professionals and anyone else requiring top class equipment. Clearly the other race models also incorporate decades of top sport experience, for a surprising balance between price and quality. A striking example of this is the new RoadRacer, a full carbon racer with a professional specification and fantastic looks. The 2008 Race Collection offers a broad and sensibly assembled selection for the seasoned professional, the top amateur and the most dedicated of touring cyclists. Innovative frame technology, the latest, carefully matched components and hand-assembly provide the solid foundations for this. After all, winning is a profession!

Mountainbike

Koga-Miyata has been building mountain bikes for more than 20 years. Few people know that the first downhill world champion, Greg Herbold, achieved his victory in 1991 on a Koga-Miyata - and that was in the USA. With its new series of mountain bikes, Koga is back in the cyclists’ line of vision. There are five models to choose from to meet the widest range of requirements: all mountain, marathon and cross-country. The mountain bikes come equipped as usual with the best components from Shimano, Ritchey Pro, Schwalbe, Fox, Rock Shox, Mavic, Fizik and others. The two new full-suspension bikes offer top quality engineering for all mountain and marathon. The new full-suspension technology has already proven itself in tests by the Nissan mountain bike team. The XPM-AllMountain is Koga’s best MTB for the (semi-) professional all mountain rider. This bike is ideal for long day excursions with extreme single trails. It is equipped with extra wide tyres and a special saddle that lets you carry it on your shoulder. Alternatively, the XPM-Marathon full-suspension bike is, as its name suggests, perfect for ambitious mountain bikers, who prefer to ride long marathons. The hardtails - led by the carbon XT-Carbolite - are designed to provide cross-country pleasure, but also to be suitable for marathons. The light carbon frame is equipped with the latest Shimano technology. The light aluminium hardtails X-Runner und X-Sport are a good choice for passionate cross-country riders. The front fork and sports design of the X-Runner allow it to travel fast over country courses. The X-Sport has V-brakes and is particularly suited to those riders who can’t resist riding through mud and rain in winter conditions.

Trekking

The success of a cycling holiday depends on correct preparation and having the right equipment. Even if you do not intend to spend more than three months on the road with your Koga like many of our touring bike customers, it is still reassuring to know that it would be possible. The distinctive features of touring bikes from Koga are their robustness, durability and complete equipment. Although each model has its special qualities and characteristics, they all have one thing in common: a Koga touring bike is ready to go. “Just fit your panniers and set off” is our motto. That is why no touring bike is complete without a fitted lowrider, pump, drinks bottle and stand. You can rely on your Koga. The components that Koga uses on its touring bikes undergo prolonged testing and in many cases have already been proven in use for a number of years. Many Koga partners have been travelling for years on their WorldTraveller from the Arctic to the Antarctic and from Alaska to Patagonia. Should you wish to set off on a journey to Santiago di Compostela, you would find yourself in good company with a Koga. The Randonneur and Traveller are also classics. Already back in 1984, holiday cyclists were setting off with their Traveller. Today’s touring cyclists rely on the comprehensive equipment provided with these models. Puncture-resistant tyres, robust carriers, a complete set of lights including hub dynamo and the special Koga Selego multi-grip handlebar are just some of the components that make up a Koga touring bike. And if you still do not know where you want to go - take a look at www.koga.com, ‘My Koga’. This will give you a few ideas of where a Koga touring bike could take you...

Light Touring

The new name for this segment says it all. The models that we will be introducing to you on the following pages are all super-light and best suited to enthusiastic touring cyclists. Those who are fans of sportiness, but who do not want to miss out on comfort, will find the right bicycle here. The ergonomically designed shapes ensure you have a relaxed, comfortable posture, without forfeiting speed. While the first three - TerraLinerAlloy, RoadChamp and SportsLady - are more sports orientated, although they have fixed bases for mudguards and carrier rack, the other models come fully equipped. All fully equipped models have LED lighting, mudguards, carrier rack, a specially shaped handlebar or other design comforts. In addition, the models are equipped with wider or narrower tyres depending on the intended use and an appropriate range of gears. With its light hub gear transmission, integrated cables and disc brakes, the Infiniti is not only technically eye-catching but also a feast for the eyes. Alternatively, friends of the derailleur have the LightDeluxe, which is therefore even lighter than the Infiniti. The comfortable RoadRunner and RoadSpeed offer the latest in Koga front fork suspension technology, the Koga Feather, which puts noticeably less strain on arms and shoulders. In cooperation with lighting specialists Busch & Müller, Koga has developed the Rayo front lamp. This integrated lamp is visually unobtrusive and provides 30 lux, twice as much light intensity as a traditional lamp. Because the lamp is attached to the mudguard, riding safety in the dark is not compromised by either handlebar bag or basket. The Rayo is fitted to the RoadRunner and LightRunner.

Comfort

Distinctive, unique and innovative when it comes to comfortable sports cycling: Koga’s Comfort models are conceptual. Lots of new models and numerous innovative details mean that the Koga Comfort is more up to date than ever before. There are plenty of examples to talk about! The new Koga Rayo front lamp was developed in conjunction with manufacturers B&M. Its compact design is seamlessly integrated into the front mudguard. Cables and bags will no longer interfere with the light. Thanks to the unique, adjustable reflector and the latest LED technology, the light produced is more accurate and bright than ever before. Koga has proven that intelligent suspension can be integrated discretely with its new Feather headshock system. Built into the frame, this three-piece suspension filters out both large and small undulations as well as vibrations. Finally, the famous front steering construction now comes with push-button control, whereby the steering can be adjusted by the simple touch of a button. In short: comfort, safety and functionality in optimum proportions! Koga is proud to present three Comfort categories affording the most personal choice, each one characterised by its individual but related specification: New Comfort is Koga’s new ‘business class’ in touring bicycles. The Alliance is a superlative, aimed at everyone who loves that little extra comfort. The Koga Comfort Touring series epitomises ‘relaxed sports’ cycling; for anyone who just as loves going for a ride mid-week, at the weekend or while on holiday. It is nimble and quiet in use, has a finely tuned sitting posture and eye-catching details. Comfort City bikes are designed for people who cycle on a daily basis and who put comfort and user-friendliness at the top of their lists. For example, the extra-relaxing sitting posture and ride, optional extra-low step-through and minimal maintenance requirements. Designed for intensive all-year-round use, without any detriment to its elegance and contemporary design.

Electric Hybrid

Koga-Miyata touring bicycles stand out from the crowd in terms of their exclusivity and pleasant ride. Our new collection of touring bicycles with electrically-assisted pedalling, under the name of Tesla, is synonymous with the height of convenience. Models that are close relations of our well-known elegant Comfort cycles. The Tesla allows you to relax and enjoy a genuine Koga-Miyata, without having to worry about things like headwinds, longer distances or steep climbs. You get to your destination without excessive effort and still nice and fresh. The degree of pedal-assistance is easily regulated by yourself. Even with the pedal-assistance switched off, the Tesla rides like a true Koga: light, quiet and smooth. All this makes the Tesla a pleasant and healthy alternative to the car and public transport, as well as appealing to anyone who likes to get on their bike without overdoing it. Commuting without the stress of traffic jams and parking spaces - just one of the limitless options offered by the Tesla. The Tesla broadens the horizon for anyone who prefers or needs a bicycle that gives you ‘an invisible push in the back’. The pedal-assistance can operate for over 70 kilometres. All these benefits are combined with the most simple controls, invisible ION-drive and low-maintenance. As with all Koga-Miyatas the Tesla was designed by Koga. The model is hand-built in the Netherlands by Koga. Its slender and lightweight design, full range of equipment and outstanding riding characteristics helped the Tesla last year to win a prestigious Eurobike Gold Award and ‘best overall value’ status from the Dutch trade magazine ‘Tweewieler’. The Tesla is available in several finishes, each with its own individual identity.

Specials

The Specials category is for bikes that are all just something special. Like the TwinTraveller folding, full-suspension touring tandem. Transporting a tandem used to be a troublesome business. The TwinTraveller, on the other hand, fits neatly into the boot of a medium-sized estate car. And besides, a tandem can provide a great deal of riding pleasure. After all, what can be more satisfying than reaching your destination together? The Founder also belongs in the Specials category. The Koga-Miyata Founder is the solution, for example, for business people constantly looking for a place to park. Simply park on the outskirts of town and unpack the full-suspension Founder. Because it is easy to ride and offers a high level of comfort, it is also known as the bicycle among folding bicycles. It is also the practical option for anyone who has limited space for keeping a bike, but still wants to ride a top quality bicycle. Even three years after its introduction, the Chela is still an eye-catcher. The multifunctional bicycle trailer has room for 78 litres of luggage and can be easily converted to a trolley. Practical, if you have already sent your bike on ahead. A newcomer to the Specials category is the Citybike Vector. It has been specially designed for moving quickly about town, where demands are at their greatest. Heavy traffic, narrow roads, obstacles, tramlines and uneven road surfaces make the daily ride to work more difficult. You also want a safe and comfortable ride, to take your luggage with you, arrive in clean clothes and spend as little time as possible on maintenance. That is why you now have the Vector. The Vector turns the town into a cycle track.
